At least 10 Britons are missing or dead amid Hamas horror

The heart-rending stories of at least 10 Britons missing or dead amid the horror of Hamas’s shocking attack on Israel as Chief Rabbi says ‘there isn’t a Jewish family in the UK which hasn’t been affected’

At least ten British nationals are missing or dead following Saturday’s shocking attack on southern Israel, including two whose deaths have been confirmed.

Every Jewish family in the UK has been affected ‘in one way or another’, the Chief Rabbi said.

Sir Ephraim Mirvis told Sky News: ‘The first question we are asking people when giving them a call in the UK is, “How is everyone in your family?”

‘Because there certainly isn’t a Jewish family in the UK which hasn’t been affected in one way or another by this.’ Those confirmed missing or dead include:

NATHANEL YOUNG, 20

Corporal Nathanel Young, 20, from London, was a soldier in the 13th Battalion who lived in Tel Aviv

JFS Jewish school headteacher Dr David Moody said: ‘We are heartbroken at what has happened. Nathanel is fondly remembered’

Mr Young was fulfilling his ‘childhood dream’ to serve in the Israeli army when he was killed in the surprise attack by Palestinian terrorists.

A former pupil at JFS Jewish school in Kenton, north London, the corporal had been living in a lone-soldier house in Raanana, according to the Jewish News. His brother Eliot said: ‘Nathanel was full of life and the life of the party. He loved his family and friends and was loved by everyone.’

Mr Young’s funeral in Jerusalem yesterday was interrupted by warning sirens and loud bangs, with mourners taking shelter behind gravestones, the BBC reported.

JFS Jewish school headteacher Dr David Moody said: ‘We are heartbroken at what has happened. Nathanel is fondly remembered within the school and we think of him with nothing but love.’

JAKE MARLOWE, 26

Jack Marlowe was last seen attempting to rescue revellers from the killers. He remained missing last night

Mr Marlowe, who went to the same London school as Mr Young, left desperate messages to friends while providing security at the Supernova music festival close to the Gaza border, where around 260 people were killed.

His parents, Lisa and Michael, who live in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, have launched a desperate appeal for information.

The carpenter’s mother told the Jewish News on Sunday that the last message she got from her son was one saying he loved her.
