Tom Brady FaceTimes with Son Benjamin, 10, While Socially Distancing During Coronavirus Spread

Tom Brady is not letting the coronavirus pandemic stop him from enjoying some quality father-son time.

On Tuesday, the NFL quarterback shared a screenshot from his FaceTime call with his 10-year-old son Benjamin. In the photo, a shirtless Brady, 42, was all smiles as Benjamin laid on his stomach to talk to his dad.

“Missing my boy,” the athlete captioned the sweet Instagram Story shot, adding two heart-eyed emojis.

Brady shares Benjamin and daughter Vivian Lake, 7, with wife Gisele Bündchen. He also has a son, 12-year-old John “Jack” Edward, from his past relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Brady, meanwhile, recently kept busy while social distancing by re-watching the New England Patriots’ 2017 Super Bowl victory against the Atlanta Falcons.

The professional athlete documented the re-watch on his Instagram Story Monday, which included plenty of commentary about the historic game. “I’m not crying, you’re crying,” Brady wrote with several happy-face emojis about the moment the Patriots won in overtime.

Last month, Brady announced that he would be departing from the Patriots after winning six total Super Bowls with the team and heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments,” he wrote on Instagram, in part. “I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to know each and everyone of you, and to have the memories we’ve created together.”

Rachel Bloom and Husband Dan Gregor Welcome Daughter amid Pandemic: 'Emotionally Intense Week'

Rachel Bloom is a mom!

The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star, 32, welcomed a daughter with her husband Dan Gregor and shared that giving birth amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic made for an “emotionally intense week.”

“She’s here. She’s home,” Bloom wrote on Instagram Wednesday alongside a sweet photo of her newborn resting on her chest.

Making her delivery all the more daunting, Bloom shared that she gave birth in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

“Having a baby in the NICU during a pandemic while a dear friend was in the hospital 3,000 miles away made this by far the most emotionally intense week of mine and Gregor’s lives,” she continued in her caption.

“As the lovely doctors and nurses helped my daughter get some fluid out of her lungs, we watched the maternity ward around us change hourly to prepare for the upcoming COVID storm.”

Bloom shared that she and her baby are now at home resting.

“Thank you thank you thank you. Brb, gonna go get to know the person who came out of my vagina,” Bloom added.

Bloom did not share her baby’s name, weight or actual date of birth.

3. Quickly Convey Your Impact

If you have relevant educational credentials, such as a master’s degree or other certifications, put that next to your name up top, since many employers won’t read the resume to the bottom, says Augustine.

“The top third should give them the highlights of what they need to know about you,” she says. “If they don’t pay attention to anything else, the top third of the resume should tell me, who is this person and what type of role are they pursuing? Why are they pursuing it, why should I care about them?”

Include a concise, professional description just a few lines long immediately after your name and contact information to summarize “why you’re interested in and qualified for this type of job,” says Augustine. “Think of it as your elevator pitch. Maybe it’s coming up with your years of experience, the type of achievements you’ve attained, what skills you’ve leveraged.”

4. Create a Skills Section

Start with bullet points of your strongest assets in plain, specific language tailored to the role you are targeting.

“There’s no points for prose — paragraphs don’t help you,” Siegel says.

If you have a license or a degree or a certification, list that and the institution you got it from, and your years of experience, because “many of these robots are getting sophisticated enough to look for that,” he says. “And that can be a game changer.”

And which skills should you include? Note the job requirements that keep popping up, and the skills “continuously being mentioned that either will be used or listed as direct requirements and nice to have,” says Augustine. “That’s what you need to be emphasizing on your resume, assuming you possess those skills or have that experience.”

5. Show Your Worth

When you list the job you’ve had and for how long, clearly note the range of time you’ve worked there and the responsibilities bulleted underneath. Then, in a few lines, show your worth to an employer.

“What were your main responsibilities?” says Amanda. “How do I provide value? How did I contribute? How did I help make customers happy or increase revenue or cut costs?”

If you don’t have a job where it’s easy to show your impact, “think about, ‘When I’m not there, what doesn’t get done?'” says Augustine. “‘What balls get dropped when I’m not there there to handle things?'”

You don’t have to list every job you’ve had, and only go back about 15 years, says Augustine: “They want to know, ‘What have you been doing lately?’ And, ‘How does it relate to the role you’re pursuing now?'”

Easter is due in less than two weeks, with the public likely to spend the occasion indoors due to the Government’s strict lockdown measures. Those still hoping to celebrate, however, will be looking to secure Easter eggs at a time when supermarket stocks are running low.

Are Easter eggs still being sold?

The Government currently has the country on lockdown, permitting the public to exit their homes on two occasions; for food or exercise.

The measures mean most people are shopping with renewed fervour, stockpiling and panic buying to keep their cupboards full during the pandemic.

Naturally, this means many supermarkets have found themselves short of some necessities, and only stock “essential” items.


  • Supermarket restrictions: Which supermarkets have lifted limits?

Essential items include foods such as bread, pasta, canned goods and other necessities such as toilet paper.

Some shops have cut back on other items, but still sell them, and people will find they can buy Easter eggs in many stores.

Many shops remain fully stocked with the eggs, as people favour essential supplies above all others.

However, some shops have complained “overzealous” police officers have tried to narrow the list of what they can sell, with Easter eggs included amongst the perceived non-essentials.

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) also blamed local councils and police for “misreading the rules”.

They told shops and convenience stores to continue selling the full range of their stock.

James Lowman, ACS chief executive, said: “The Government have defined which stores can remain open, and that includes convenience stores, including newsagents and off-licences.

“There is no Government definition of which products can be sold within those stores.”

Two weeks later, the couple celebrated Forrest’s big day. His older siblings stayed up later than he did the night before to secretly make homemade cards.

What Keeping A Social-Distancing Routine Does To Your Brain, According To Experts

For many, staying at home means no commute, no set mealtimes, no need to get out of your comfiest pajamas, but it’s anything but a vacation. People who are staying at home to flatten the coronavirus curve, experts say, should stick to a routine in order to help their mental health.

Dr. Sarita Robinson PhD, CPsychol, SFHEA, ICPEM, principal lecturer in psychology at the University of Central Lancashire and expert in survival psychology, compares the social distancing many people are practicing to the time between Christmas and New Year, where people tend to stay at home and do very little. "We can very quickly start to lose track of time and feel like all the days are merging into one," she says.

Boring though they may seem, regular schedules are necessary to combat that sense, in part because the brain loves routine. Clinical psychologist Dr. Joshua Klapow, Ph.D., tells Bustle that while having a bowl of cereal whenever you want feels great for a bit, the brain eventually begins to crave regularity. "Not being able to engage in habitual behaviors (work, school, exercise, social interaction) can be incredibly distressing," he says. "While not having regularity can in the short run feel freeing, as time passes, most people will experience a sense of confusion, loss of motivation, and a feeling of being lost."

The human brain is conditioned to develop and repeat habits, rather than thriving in a daily free-for-all. As a behavior becomes habitual, you you start doing it automatically. "Forty percent of the time we’re not thinking about what we’re doing," social psychologist Professor Wendy Wood told the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in 2014. "The thoughtful, intentional mind is easily derailed, and people tend to fall back on habitual behaviors." These leave us free to think about important problems as they crop up, like how to mop up the spill that’s suddenly appeared on the floor, rather than devoting brain space to our morning routine. We rely on these automatic patterns when we’re stressed and distracted.

Psychologists think that habits are essentially labor-saving devices for the brain, because making decisions all the time about everything is hard. "Rather than having to decide how to live each moment afresh, we can navigate our lives using a simple strategy: (a) other things being equal, choose whatever we chose before, and (b) organise [sic] our lives in such a way that we are faced with the same choices, over and over again," behavioral scientist Professor Nick Chater wrote for The Conversation in 2018. However, he points out that everybody needs to balance regularity and spontaneity.

We also flourish when we have these set-ups. One study published in Personality & Social Psychology Bulletin in 2018 found that people with routines tended to find more meaning in life. Patterns of regular behavior have also been found to reduce symptoms of anxiety and ADHD, and conditions like insomnia. People with daily schedules, according to a 2016 study in Health Psychology Review, may also have more self-control when it comes to making decisions that will help them long-term.

Sticking to a regimen right now is a helpful way to minimize stress and reduce anxiety. "I would recommend sticking to a set waking time, set meal times and a set bedtime," Dr. Robinson tells Bustle. An exercise plan, a set workspace for those who are working from home, times for walking outside or talking to friends, and other kinds of scheduling can all help your brain out. "The result is a day that can be as structured as you want, and that will remind you that your life has predictability, which reduces distress," Dr. Klapow says. From that foundation you can build in spontaneous living room dance parties, marathons of cookie-baking, and at least one why-not nap.

We’re doing our best to adapt our personal and professional lives in profound ways to stop the spread of the pandemic by protecting ourselves, our families, our colleagues and strangers. The recent $2 trillion economic stimulus bill that passed includes entertainment freelance workers. IATSE and its allies had sent more than 100,000 letters to Congress pleading for that
to happen.

Here’s just a sampling of other noteworthy gestures underway:

WarnerMedia set up a $100 million relief fund for workers impacted by the wide production shutdown across film and television.
Netflix created a $100 million relief fund to help unemployed members of the creative community, including crew members, to earn an income during the shutdown.

Facebook is investing $100 million to support local news organizations during the health crisis on top of its commitment to spend $300 million over a three-year period.

Disney says it will continue paying its hourly theme-park employees through at least April 18 and that Bob Iger is forfeiting his entire salary and CEO Bob Chapek is taking a 50% pay cut.

Here at Variety, our publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns announced that she and her business team have set up a COVID-19 relief fund to support entertainment industry organizations, donating a portion of revenue received from TV awards sales toward that effort.
