Ant McPartlin looks sombre ahead of the NTAs

Cheer up Ant, it’s NTAs day! McPartlin looks sombre on dog walk despite being tipped to win Best TV Presenter for the 22nd time at tonight’s awards

He’s the bookies’ favourite to scoop Best TV Presenter at Tuesday’s National Television Awards.

Yet Ant McPartlin, 47, failed to raise a smile as he was spotted on a dog walk in London earlier in the day.

While it’s been predicted that he and presenting partner Declan Donnelly, 47, will continue their record-breaking streak by winning the gong for the 22nd year in a row, Ant seemed to have other things on his mind.

The Saturday Night Takeaway host looked glum as he strolled around the park with the Maltipoo pup he shares with wife Anne-Marie.

He kept a low profile on the outing, donning a navy baseball cap with a padded gilet, thin jumper and shorts.

Ant and Dec are currently the bookies’ favourites to scoop Best TV Presenter at the NTAs with William Hill offering odds of 1/4.

Next in line is Alison Hammond at 5/1, then Bradley Walsh in 6/1, with Martin Lewis and Claudia Winkleman both on odds of 10/1.

While the pair have been making history with their win, theyfaced backlash from viewers last year after bagging the National Television Award for Best Presenter for the 21st year in a row.

The Geordie duo were both unable to attend last year after contracting Covid, with Stephen Mulhern accepting the gong on their behalf.

They took to social media to thank fans for voting for them before jokingingly suggesting that Stephen had pinched their award.

Ant said: ‘Hi everyone, I just wanted to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone for voting for us at the NTAs yet again. Honestly, we are over the moon.’

While Dec added: ‘Yeah, we are so sorry we weren’t there to accept the award in person last night but as you probably heard, we were both struck down with the lurgy so we missed it.

‘We haven’t actually got the awards either yet, they haven’t made their way here yet. I’m sure there’s nothing sinister going on but Stephen Mulhern hasn’t quite delivered the awards to us.

‘I’m sure they’re on their way, but a heartfelt thank you once again from us for our award and for the I’m a Celebrity award which… new series, coming soon, back in Australia! Thank you!’

Captioning the post, they penned: ‘We just wanted to say a massive thank you once again to everyone who voted for us, and for @imacelebrity at the NTAs!

‘Our fellow nominees are all incredible, and we are so honoured to have received these awards… We say ‘received’, but @stephenmulhern is still going straight to voicemail….’

Meanwhile, Stephen did indeed joke that he may take the prize for himself as he shared a snap of himself kissing their trophy alongside the caption: ‘@antanddec have got too many! I’ll look after this for a few years…’

He then added: ‘All joking aside, nobody deserves it more.’

The video came after many branded their continuous winning streak ‘boring’ and even encouraged the Geordie duo to ‘bow out’ of the category to give someone else a chance to win.
