Gemma Atkinson has opened up about her biggest fear as a parent for her daughter.
The former Hollyoaks star, 38, has two children with her husband and Strictly Come Dancing professionalGorka Marquez, 33. In July 2019 they welcomed their daughter Mia and in July this year, Gemma gave birth to their second child, a baby boy called Thiago.
In September this year, Mia started school but a few weeks in the doting mum of two has taken to Instagram to share her biggest worries for her daughter. After posting a video clip from a movie with her response if anyone bullies her kids, Gemma added "jokes aside" and posted a lengthy caption.
She wrote: "Genuinely I think about it most days. esp with Mia as she's so sensitive.
"When I found out we were having a boy one of my first thoughts was, well at least lads when they fall out usually just have a scrap then it'll all forgotten about. Girls can be manipulative can't they in that they say horrible things to each other".
Gemma continued: "In my experience typical bullies are usually having a hard time at home so half of you feel for them. Christ it's a mind field isn't it? No one warns you of this before being a parent."
She accompanied the post with a sign that read "What to do?"
Gemma met professional dancer Gorka when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017. However, the two weren't actually dance partners, as Gemma was paired with Aljaž Skorjane while Gorka danced with Alexandra Burke.
This didn't stop them from hitting it off as the two quietly began dating behind the scenes. They managed to keep the romance quiet until they announced their relationship on Valentine's Day 2018.
They quickly announced their engagement following the show and in 2019, the couple shared they were having a baby together. They welcomed a baby girl, Mia in July that year.
The TV stars announced the arrival of their second child, a son, Thiago in July this year. Speaking to OK! at the Pride of Britain Awards this year, Gemma told us her family was "complete" – and jokingly warned Gorka not to go near her for fear of falling pregnant again.
On the transition from one to two children, former Strictly contestant Gemma told us: "It's a lot more relaxed because we know what to do now, it's not our first rodeo, so it's fine."
She continued, "[We're] more worried, because obviously you think 'I've got two to keep an eye on'. When I go to Tesco I'm like, 'Where are they? Which aisle are they on?'.
"But it's just lovely. We kind of feel like everything's complete now. Boy, girl done, shop shut, done. Don't come near me!".
