I’m A Celebrity legend reveals the one grim task the stars DON’T actually have to do – despite it seeming like they do on the show
A former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star has revealed there is one job on the show that the star contestants don’t actually have to do.
Phil Tufnell, who won the ITV show back in 2003, has claimed that one of the grimmest tasks is done by a member of the crew off camera.
The former cricket star said that contestants aren’t forced to clean out the camp toilet – known as the dunny – despite it appearing like they do.
Revealing that the task is actually done by staff, Phil explained in his new memoir, The Tourist, that the celebs only had to carry the dunny not actually empty it.
He wrote, ‘I stuck to the dunny – believe me, an unenviable task. I’d literally have nightmares about it – tripping as I was carrying it away and being consumed by a cascading torrent of celebrity sewage.

Yuck! Phil Tufnell, who won the ITV show back in 2003, has claimed that one of the grimmest tasks is done by a member of the crew off camera
‘A little secret here – the contestants remove the dunny, but don’t actually empty it.
‘They carry it down to a camouflaged wooden hut, tap on the door and clear off.
‘It’s basically an extreme version of that old knock-and-run game where you wrap a bit of dog muck in newspaper, set it on fire, drop it by someone’s front door, ring the bell, and leg it.’
Phil returned to the jungle last year after 20 years when he competed in the All Star series, where he made the final four.
He was a finalist alongside Fatima Whitbread, Jordan Banjo and Myleene Klass. The show was won by Myleene.
During his exit interview on the show, Phil – praised most of his co-stars as he detailed getting along with the rest of them in the jungle.
He said he instantly ‘hit it off’ with English songwriter Shaun Ryder.
‘He said we are going to go on tour with him with The Happy Mondays. Crikey, I might just go for a couple of nights.

‘I got very close to Dean and Joe. Great lads, they came bouncing in like bouncy balls. Just full of life. And also Jordan, or the biggun’ as I call him,’ he added.
The cricketer star claimed he got on with everyone on the reality show, adding: ‘Toff was great fun. Carol was beautiful and demure. Amir is a great lad, what a top block he is,’ said Phil.
