Jeff Brazier slammed by Jade Goodys mum amid grandson Bobbys NTA win

Bobby Brazier was all smiles when he scooped the Rising Star trophy at last night's National Television Awards.

The 20 year old actor – who plays Freddie Slater in BBC One soap EastEnders – was watched by his proud father, TV presenter Jeff Brazier, at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, 5 September.

And when Bobby paid tribute to the way he was parented by his dad, Jeff was seen getting emotional and wiping away tears.

But things have been soured by comments about 44 year old Jeff, allegedly made by Bobby's grandmother Jackiey Budden, who was also in the audience at the Greenwich venue.

Jackiey, 66, is the mother of the late Big Brother contestant Jade Goody – Bobby's mum and Jeff's ex-girlfriend – who tragically died aged 27 in March 2009, after a battle with cervical cancer.

Jackiey, who'd apparently bought her own ticket to the event, was reportedly overheard saying: "I didn’t allow them to know I was there. I didn’t want to see their dad. He’s a c**k. But I’m going to wait until they’re older before I let rip," according to The Sun. Jackiey herself took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.

OK! has approached representatives for Jeff for comment.

Collecting his award at the event hosted by comedian Joel Dommett, Bobby said: "I've been thinking about what I might say over the last couple of days and it's become very, very obvious.

"This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad… over the course of the last 20 years I've consistently heard him say, 'Because I can', it was a mantra or a motto of his, and him just saying that, 'Because I can!' you know, why not?"

Bobby went on to thank EastEnders bosses for believing in him when he had "no experience", quipping: "I still don't have a clue what I'm doing, to be honest."

And he added: "But they've all been so supportive, and just lovely and merciful and everything that I needed throughout the whole time and even still."

Bobby lost mum Jade Goody when he was just five years old and has said he was too young to have any lasting memories of her, telling press when asked what he recalls of her: "Not a whole lot. Maybe memories of memories. I'm always being told about her and what she meant to people."
