When does Black Friday start?
This year, Black Friday falls on 24 November.
Black Friday always falls on the day after the Thanksgiving – the fourth Thursday in November – which is a national holiday in the USA.
Traditionally the Black Friday sale was a US phenomenon but in recent years it has spread across the globe with tens of thousands of brands and retailers getting involved.

For shoppers it’s an ideal opportunity to pick up a bargain or two at the best prices you’re going to see all year. As it’s also just a month before Christmas it’s a great opportunity for festive shopping as well, a chance to buy all your Christmas gifts for family and friends – and save money.
When does Black Friday end?
Black Friday is no longer a one-day sale, with discounts continuing through the weekend and culminating with Cyber Monday on 27 November.
Cyber Monday is generally your last opportunity to take advantage of the cut-price deals on offer from retailers, with the Black Friday weekend officially ending at midnight that day. However some stores and brands now continue their offers through until December or even later.
If there’s something in particular you have your eye on it’s probably better to buy it on Black Friday than hope for further price drops and wait until Cyber Monday, just in case it sells out before.

When is Cyber Monday 2023, and are dehumidifier retailers taking part?
Cyber Monday is the online-only counterpart to Black Friday, and this year it will take place on 27 November.
It is the first Monday after Black Friday and it caps off a weekend of price cuts.
These days, most Black Friday deals run over the whole weekend, but any particularly good deals may have run out by the time Monday rolls around.
You could find the best dehumidifier deal on Cyber Monday – but it's also a risk to wait, as stocks might not last long.
Prepare yourself in advance for finding a bargain – do your research before Black Friday and find those products that meet your needs, before deciding which to buy and parting with your hard-earned cash.

How do dehumidifiers work?
Dehumidifiers draw moisture from the air, sucking it in like a form of vacuum cleaner, creating a drier atmosphere in the home.
The headline extraction rate on any dehumidifier tells you how many litres of water the machine can remove from the air in 24 hours. The higher the extraction rate, the more water is removed.
A compressor pulls in the damp air, which is then passed over cooled coils and the resultant water is collected in a tank, with dry air being expelled back into the room. The tank is removable for easy emptying.
Dehumidifiers reduce condensation and also help combat mould.
Are dehumidifiers expensive to run?
The cost of running a dehumidifier depends on a number of factors, including how long you have the machine running and the size of the machine, with larger models generally using more electricity.
Extraction rates also vary so a smaller one with a lower extraction rate will take longer to reduce the humidity in a room, which means you’re likely to leave it running longer.
As of November 2023 electricity costs an average of 27p per kWh so a dehumidifier with a 12L extraction rate that uses 180 watts per hour would cost 4.86p per hour to run.
Models that include a smart humidistat (measures humidity) switch themselves off once the target humidity level has been reached so they aren’t constantly ‘on’.
Cheaper models may turn out to be more expensive to run long-term so it’s worth looking at functionality and not just price when deciding which dehumidifier to buy.
