A FORMER Premier League champion has swapped his football boots for running trainers in his brutal new sport.

The retired defender recently completed the Berlin Marathon in Germany.


Robert Huth, 39, is best known for his time battling against strikers during his time as a footballer.

He now takes part in running marathons and completed the Berlin marathon last week.

The course starts and finishes at the iconic Brandenburg Gate.

He shared his success at the gruelling event on social media with a picture of himself in his running gear.

Huth posted: "Week ago today, that was tough!

"Big thanks to #sebamed for organising. Same again next year? #bmwberlinmarathon."

The German starred for the likes of Chelsea and Stoke City.

But his most famous stint in the Premier League was during his spell at Leicester City.

The defender was part of the side that completed the fairytale triumph of winning the league in 2016.

The league title he earned with the Foxes was his third in his career, having won it twice at Chelsea.

He announced his retirement from football in 2019.

By the end of his career, Huth admitted he was "fed up" after becoming disillusioned with the game.

In 2022, he returned to Leicester City as he was appointed as the club's loan manager.
