Patric DiCaprio and Bryn Taubensee’s Vaquera has dominated New York fashion since its launch for over a decade. The androgynous label often opens Paris Fashion Week with a bang, and Spring/Summer 2024 is no different.
Last season, Vaquera returned to its subversive roots, bringing the Big Apple’s lavish club scene to Paris for SS24. The underground venue was lit with rapid camera flashes imitating midnight paparazzi, contrasted by sinister high-pitched sounds. Fittingly, attendees stood around the runway, phones in hand, looking to catch a glimpse of Vaquera’s glitterati.
The 41-look collection was bold and revealing, expanding Vaquera’s daring identity with its usual eroticism. Models wore black-tinted sunglasses and hats to hide from the cameras, seeing the first model debut a netted bodysuit with breast outlines and a scribbled “I Heart NY” shoulder bag. White shirting and striped neckties arrived larger than life, dragging on the floor in tribute to Wall Street businessmen.
Graphic hoodies and floor-length fur scarves were primed for wintertime, followed by paint-splattered dresses and jumbo-sized hats. Puffed ball gowns and rose-embellished ponchos dramatically overwhelmed the showcase, grounded in Vaquera’s main character attitude. Sailor hats, branded football tops, and exposed trousers completed the collection with sinful messaging.

Elsewhere, AVAVAV’s SS24 runway was stress-induced chaos.
