It has built on this success with two further seasons about different cases, which has seen The Trial reach about 19million downloads across the three series so far. Season two focused on the murder of Irish teacher Ashling Murphy, 23.
The current season, which launched last month, is following the case of Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old transgender girl killed earlier this year. The Trial has been nominated for a number of awards. It aims to bring listeners the detail heard by juries and focuses on key moments in trials. It also carries interviews with relatives, experts and detectives.
