Coronation Street: Stephen Reid commits second murder
Coronation Street killer Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has a plan to get out of Weatherfield this week as the net closes in on him, but it looks like his plans might be scuppered by the latest turn of events at the Rovers Return.
Spoilers released by ITV for upcoming episodes show he tries to persuade new love Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) to go to Thailand with him.
Claiming he wants to get away from everything, he is working on winning her around to the idea when the new owners of the Rovers put a spanner in the works.
When the Waterford’s manager arrives to break the news that they’re closing the much-loved pub for an extensive refurbishment and all the staff contracts have been terminated with immediate effect, Jenny and her team are thrown into a spin.
Although Adam Barlow (Sam Robinson) insists there’s a case for unfair dismissal Jenny hasn’t only lost her job, but she and Stephen have lost their home too and are forced to seek refuge with Jenny’s former stepmother Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox).

Although Stephen assures Rita they won’t be under her feet for long as hopefully they’re off to Thailand, events take yet another turn.
DS Swain informs Jenny the police have proof that neither Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) nor his father Teddy (Grant Burgin) visited Canada.
Of course, this isn’t news to Stephen as he murdered both men, but as Jenny argues Teddy contacted Stephen from Canada, the killer begins to panic, realising his callous crimes could come to light.
Jenny is too distracted to notice his anxiety though, as the Waterford’s workmen start boarding up the Rovers prior to the renovations.
She, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jody Prenger), Daisy Midgely (Charlotte Jordan), Sean Tully (Antony Cotton and Gemma Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) watch emotionally as they work on the premises

Her problems are further compounded when Gemma reveals she’s applied for the deputy manager role with Waterfords.
This leaves Daisy fuming, as she assumed it would it would go to Jenny and causes even more stress for the beleaguered former landlady.
