Craig Revel Horwood recalls inviting Brendan Cole over
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole admitted he would love to be a judge on the BBC series but believes Craig Revel Horwood would be hard to replace.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk on behalf of Sky Bingo, the professional dancer said “It would be a travesty for the show” if Craig left.
He shared: “Obviously, I would pop my hand firmly in the air to replace Craig [Revel Horwood], but I don’t think that will be on the cards anytime soon and I’m not vying for his job.
“The show needs spice, you can’t have it nice all the time. Craig gives that spice and it’d be a shame for him to leave the show because he is such a presence within it.
“I don’t think he’s replaceable. If anyone were to replace him, then they would need to have Craig’s humility but that little bit of spice that keeps everybody a little bit on edge.

“You see how much it means to the couples when he gives good praise, they light up, which shows the show needs someone like him.”
While Craig hasn’t confirmed he is leaving the show just yet, he has admitted in an interview that he plans to retire when he is 60 – which is in two years.
In a new interview, Craig, who has sat on the judging panel since 2004, said he was ready to “hang up his dancing shoes”.
When discussing his retirement plans, Craig shared: “I’m working hard while I can, especially as I love what I do. It keeps me on my toes, darlings!

“I’m now the same age as the late, great Len Goodman was when he first started – that’s scary, isn’t it?!”
He added to Best Magazine: “The reason I look forward to it every year is because the cast changes.
“I think that’s what’s fun about it, it doesn’t age. And this year’s line-up is fab-u-lous!”
The bookmakers and other professional dancers have also shared their thoughts on who could fill Craig’s shoes.
Joanne Clifton believes professional dancer Giovanni Pernice could follow in Anton du Beke’s footsteps and become a judge.
On behalf of Betway, Joanne said: “Many of us would like to have a go at judging.
“I completely get why Anton wanted to. I can see Giovanni Pernice going for it in a couple of years’ time.
“He could definitely be a type of Bruno Tonioli on the panel as he and Anton have their show together. He has a great personality.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
