John Lewis releases 2022 Christmas advert ’The Beginner’
John Lewis is yet to reveal what its 2023 Christmas advert will be, but if the previous years are anything to go by, it will be a good one.
As of November 1, the big retailers will begin to drop their festive adverts as they gear up to Christmas Day.
John Lewis has remained tight-lipped about what their theme and release date will be this year, but Express.co.uk has put together a guide on what we know so far.
Last year, John Lewis didn’t disappoint as they released their advert titled, The Beginner.
The festive trailer saw a hopeless dad who was trying to learn to skateboard.

When could the John Lewis Advert be first released on TV?
Last year, the John Lewis advert dropped at 8pm on November 10, the second week of the month.
The advert is often released on a Thursday – so the potential date for this year’s ad could be on November 9.
According to Heart FM, John Lewis may get to see the festive advert before anyone else does.
An email has reportedly been sent to customers telling them the advert is “almost here”.
The email reads: ‘The anticipation is growing… Our new Christmas ad is almost here. Become a My John Lewis member and download our app by 31 October to watch it first on launch day.’

What is the John Lewis advert theme this year?
The theme for this year is yet to be confirmed, but if it is anything like the previous adverts, viewers will be reaching for the tissues.
The 2022 ad centred around a mddle-aged man learning to skateboard in order to bond with the teenage girl he and his wife were adopting.
The clip was performed by singer Mike Geier, who sang a cover of Blink 182’s All The Small Things.
The 2021 advert was titled Unexpected Guest and was released on Thursday, November 4.
It was a charming story of friendship between a young boy called Nathan and space traveller Skye.
Who will be singing the theme tune to the Christmas advert this year?
John Lewis has also kept who will be singing the theme tune to the advert a secret, but the bookmakers have been coming up with their own theories about which star could be performing the track.
Sir Elton previously sang on the 2018 advert The Boy And The Piano, performing Your Song and according to Betway, he is one of the favourites tipped to perform on the ad this year.
Ezra Collective is currently the frontrunner to perform the song with odds of 5/2, while Kylie Minogue is close behind with odds of 6/1.
Eurovision star Sam Ryder and Irish singer Cian Ducrot are also names thrown into the mix.
Dermot Kennedy has been given odds of 12/1 of singing the John Lewis advert song, while Cat Burns has odds of 20/1.
Discussing the latest predictions, Betway spokesperson Chad Yeomans shared: “It’s that time of year again already, and with less than 100 days to go before Christmas, the nation once again turns its attention to who will perform the annual John Lewis Christmas advert.
“This year, it seems like a real battle between legendary performers like Kylie Minogue and Sir Elton John, who will go up against the hottest band around right now – Ezra Collective. Whatever happens, this much-anticipated staple of the festive season is sure to keep punters intrigued right up until the big reveal.”
