Virgin River: Season 5 Part 1 trailer
Virgin River fans might have already determined the identity of Mel Monroe’s (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) real father ahead of the rest of season five.
In the climactic final moments of the midseason finale on Netflix, Mel receives an earth-shattering phone call from her sister Joey (Jenny Cooper).
She reveals she’s been going through their mother’s closets and stumbled across a number of revealing letters.
Their mother was, in fact, having an affair with someone in Virgin River – not only that, but that person could be Mel’s biological father.
Mel was just as aghast as the show’s fans as the latest episode sets up a thrilling mystery to be solved later in the year.

However, some of the show’s most attentive viewers think they’ve already cracked it.
They believe Mel’s real father could be none other than Nick (Keith MacKechnie), a local businessman who has taken an interest in Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) new glamping venture this season.
Nick has been a minor player so far but received a damning description from Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) in Virgin River’s first season.

In a recent Reddit thread, user Complete-Road-3229 predicted: “I think it is Nick. He’s known as ‘handsy’.”
To which Unonuon retorted: “But never seen as ‘handsy’. It’s funny he’s ‘handsy’ in the books and actually gets “handsy” with Mel at the bar.
“I think they just mimicked the characters but forgot about it!”
Nick could certainly be in the right age range to be Mel’s father, although there are plenty of other potential candidates.
Unonuon also suggested: “Best choice would be Doc (Tim Matheson), but then he already has a secret love child.
“Charlie’s (Patrick Keating) an option, or Nick. Boring,” they added.
“Funniest would be Calvin (David Cubitt)
so Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) could be Mel’s stepmom,” the user then joked.
Although, they also conceded the culprit could simply be a “random guy we’ve never met.”
Virgin River season 5, part 1 is streaming on Netflix. Part 2 will be released November 30.
