Schoolboy, six, rushed to hospital after being mauled by 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier' | The Sun

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy has been rushed to hospital with "serious injuries" after being mauled by a dog.

The horror attack occurred in Maple Street in Ashington, Northumberland, yesterday evening.

The dog involved is thought to have been a Staffordshire Pit bull terrier.

The schoolboy was rushed to Newcastle Royal infirmary for treatment.

His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 4.30pm yesterday, police received a report that a dog had injured a child in the Maple Street area of Ashington.”
