Tens of thousands of homes across London have been left without water or with low pressure as schools are being forced to close after a ‘power supply problem’ at Thames Water plant.

The issue has been caused by a power supply problem that hit its Ashford and Hampton water supply treatment works in west London.

Hounslow Council also reported no or low water in parts of the borough.

Thames Water said: ‘We’re working hard to fix the issue and to get things back to normal.’

The Vineyard School (pictured) in Richmond confirmed its closure on Twitter earlier as more schools are being forced to close
