In a tutorial video, she said: “Whenever anyone in our house starts to feel sick, I’m running to the store to get a pineapple.

“Not only is pineapple delicious, it’s also full of vitamins and minerals that can help you fight off infection.

“So whenever someone in our house is coming down with something, I’m going straight to making pineapple water.”

Jewel then continued to reveal the step-by-step process, as she said: “You’ll use the entire pineapple, except for the crown, so just make sure to thoroughly wash the outside of your pineapple.”

To do so, Jewell prepared her pineapple in the sink by putting boiling water and a splash of vinegar on it, before washing it down.

The parent continued: “Then we’ll take a pot of water and bring it to a boil – I don’t have a measurement for the amount of water.

“I just fill the pot about halfway, and once I’ve added in the pineapple, I will remove or add water as needed.

“While you wait for your water to boil, cut your pineapple into smaller pieces.”

Jewell then told her 26.9k followers that once the pan of water has boiled, you simply need to drop the pineapple chunks into it.

She then said: “Once you’ve added all your pineapple into the boiling water, wait for the water to return to a boil and then turn off the heat.

“I like to let the pineapple steep for maybe a few minutes or so.”

Jewell then showed how she carefully poured the water into a bottle or jug, using a strainer so no rogue bits of pineapple got into the liquid.

She also added an additional tip: “This next part is optional but if you like a little bit of a sweeter flavour, you can also add some honey to it.

“Like pineapple, honey is also a great option for an anti-inflammatory.”

And after the quick method, it’s time for everyone to drink up and fight off their colds.

Jewell concluded: “Serve hot for a sore throat, or cold for a refreshing immunity boost.”
