EastEnders star drops Christmas victim hint and says hed hate soap without him

EastEnders star Max Bowden opened up on working alongside Tony Clay, confessing he doesn't believe his co-star will be the Christmas murder victim.

In February 2023, an episode of the BBC ended with a flash-forward to Christmas 2023, where six of Walford’s matriarchs stood around a dead body in the Queen Vic. Since then, fans have been speculating who the victim could be and a number of characters have been included in the conversation.

One of those is police officer Callum Highway, played by Tony Clay since 2018. Tony has become a fan favourite amongst viewers and that is largely down to his relationship with Max's character Ben Mitchell.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at the Inside Soap Awards, Max, 28, said he would be devastated if Callum was to die at Christmas as he would hate to work without Tony, 32. He joked: "If it's Callum, give me my P45 because I can't work without Tony." Max continued: "Ben doesn't work without Callum. I would hate a world in which I don't work with Tony.

"I truly believe it's not. We all speculate but none of us have any idea who the hell it is, but that's why the story is so gripping. If the cast haven't got a clue then the viewers are buggered!" In the flashforward scene, it appears the five women are attending Sharon's wedding (Letitia Dean) as she can be seen in a glamorous white gown.

This had led fans to speculate not only who the victim is, but also who Sharon is marrying. Many believe it's too obvious to be Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), who is the father of Sharon's child and someone she's had an on-off relationship with for years.

The couple briefly got back together earlier this year, however, Keanu called things off when he realised Sharon helped Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) escape the country with his daughter, Peggy. Ruling Keanu out, fans put forward the idea that newcomer Dorian Gates (Luke J I Smith) could be the mystery man.

The boxing promoter arrived in early September and tempted Sharon with a job in Abu Dhabi. Dorian continues trying to win Sharon over in upcoming scenes, taking her for a drink and buying her flowers before mentioning the job once again.

Their flourishing relationship means Sharon could be tying the knot with Dorian in a matter of months and fans have agreed with this theory online. One person wrote: "Could she be marrying that weird boxing bloke?" A second agreed: "I think she’ll marry the boxing guy, he’ll draw her in with some rubbish that they have to be married to move to Dubai together and for them to be business partners etc or she may marry him for the money."

While a third echoed: "I think there’s a slight possibility she’s going to get together with Dorian…he’s said on two occasions about how great Abu Dhabi is to live. It’s illegal for unmarried couples to live together out there, so I have a hunch she’ll rush into things, plans to move over and marry him."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm
