First look trailer at Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge after contestants were stretchered off in freezing weather | The Sun

NETFLIX has released the first trailer for wild new reality show Squid Game: The Challenge.

The series is based on the smash hit Korean show which became Netflix’s most-watched of all time.

It will see 456 contestants competing in a range of games inspired by Squid Game – minus the grisly deaths.

Dozens will be eliminated as the games progress, but players need to try their hardest to stay in as the prize fund is a colossal £3.7 million ($4.5 million).

The trailer opened with creepy music and a masked figure in red saying: "Attention players, you will now compete for the biggest cash prize in reality show history."

Viewers are then given glimpses of some of the challenges based on the drama series, as well as some "surprising new additions".

A contestant is then heard saying: "$4.56 million dollars? People do a whole lot worse for a whole lot less."

The contestants are all seen wearing the green tracksuits like the characters in the show, but they'll hope their fates are much more fortunate than theirs.

However, some weren't so lucky, as during filming The Sun exclusively revealed how a number of contestants had to be stretchered off set due to the freezing cold conditions.

A severe cold snap in the UK back in January sent temperatures plummeting to -3C and one challenge saw the contestants have to remain completely motionless to win that round.

One exhausted player was stretchered away and others had to crawl to the finish.

One told The Sun: “Even if hypothermia kicked in then people were willing to stay for as long as possible because a lot of money was on the line. Too many were determined not to move so they stood there for far too long.

“There were people arriving thinking they were going to be millionaires but they left in tears.”
