CLEANING fanatics have agreed on the ultimate way to clean burnt food off the bottom of your saucepans.
We’ve all been there: taken our eye off the pot for too long, or misjudged how hot it was, only to find the food has burned into a solid black goo at the bottom.
It’s a nightmare to remove, we know.
But according to Mrs Hinch fans, the secret to restoring your burnt saucepan to its previous glory might just be in your favourite beverage.
They recommended using Coca-Cola – or any other brand of fizzy cola-flavoured drink – to break down any burnt food stuck to your pan.
The hack came to light in the Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips after one woman accidentally burnt cabbage in the bottom of a saucepan.

Seeking advice, she shared a picture of the black and congealed mess which looked near impossible to salvage.
But cleaning fanatics were quick to assure that a bottle of sugary cola will do the trick.
“Pour in a bottle of cola and bring it to the boil,” one said.
“It works a treat.”

“Boil some normal Coca-Cola in it and leave to soak overnight,” another echoed.
You can get supermarket brand cola for as cheap as 30p per litre.
The general consensus by Mrs Hinch fans was to let the cola get to work over a matter of hours – ideally overnight – and then scrub the next day.
This will minimise abrasions and scratching on your saucepan.
The science behind why cola makes a good cleaning product is pretty simple.
The carbonation combined with the acidic ingredients in the much-loved drink work overtime to break up and dissolve stubborn burn marks.
It contains citric acid which is known to remove stains, and phosphoric acid which is commonly used for rust removal.
However, be warned that you’ll still need to remove any stickiness left behind by the sugary drink.
